Federico Ferrarini’s recent pictorial and sculptural works merge into a single project, titled “Stonestar.” This project reflects on the concept of the Stargate as an archetypal element that correlates opposites, such as sun and earth, human and divine, masculine and feminine, pain and pleasure. The Stargate is a circular and orbital form that appears in many of the works in the “Sun” series as a generative principle of life and center of gravity around which centripetal lines of force depart.

The artist’s research on cosmology is the ultimate goal of all experimentation, which began with childhood automatic drawing and evolved through painting to the recent “Stonestar” sculpture series. In these sculptures, the circular and mandalic texture of the pictorial sign is recreated by freely incising the fibers of stone and marble with the help of a flexible tool, using a methodical and controlled process that enhances the energy inherent in matter.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, November 26 at 5:00 pm at the KROMYA Art Gallery in Verona. Federico Ferrarini is an artist who lives and works between Verona and Miami and began his career in the late 1990s while attending the Academy of Fine Arts between Brescia and Verona.
