ABOUT KROMYA
KROMYA ART GALLERY was founded in 2018 in Lugano by Tecla Riva, Giorgio Ferrarin and Adriano A. Sala as a result of a long-standing common passion and expertise. In 2020 KROMYA expanded its headquarters with a new outpost in Verona, Italy.
From April 20th to May 18th, 2022, the KROMYA Art Gallery in Verona hosted the exhibition Paolo Masi – La continuità del segno, with a presentation by Carlo Vanoni.
Paolo Masi, an undisputed protagonist of the Italian artistic scene, presented a selection of thirty mixed-media works on cardboard, created from the 1970s to today, with the addition of some unpublished works. The absolute protagonist of this new production is color, which connects the individual paintings in the construction of a new syntax.
“The new works by Paolo Masi,” writes Carlo Vanoni, “are the continuation of a path begun in the early seventies that saw cardboard as the surface to work on. Today, more than fifty years later, the analytical approach would appear anachronistic. And it is precisely color, and therefore painting, that is the protagonist of these new works. Color that becomes an alphabet and that, joining the color of the next module, constitutes a new syntax, without ever abandoning the sign or trace that still justify the choice of cardboard as the surface to work on.”
During the exhibition, it was possible to purchase the volume “Paolo Masi – The Continuity of the Sign” (Vanillaedizioni, 2022), with texts by Matteo Galbiati and Carlo Vanoni and a rich iconographic apparatus.
