ABOUT KROMYA

KROMYA ART GALLERY was founded in 2018 in Lugano by Tecla Riva, Giorgio Ferrarin and Adriano A. Sala as a result of a long-standing common passion and expertise. In 2020 KROMYA expanded its headquarters with a new outpost in Verona, Italy.

Flavio Paolucci’s exhibition Natura senza confini, scheduled from June 4 to September 13, 2024 in the spaces of KROMYA Art Gallery in Lugano, celebrates the bond between the Gallery and the Artist, who will
celebrate his 90th birthday during the exhibition.

On display will be some 15 works of recent production, some of them previously unpublished, which highlight Flavio Paolucci’s inexhaustible research aimed at exploring the inescapable connection between human beings and the natural world around them.
“The feeling of nature that pervades the artist’s works,” explains Marco Franciolli, “finds in the natural world not only a source of inspiration, but also the mirror of deep emotions and feelings. The artist’s willingness to transcend the imitation of reality to express a personal and original perspective lends an authentically universal and timeless dimension to his artistic discourse. Alongside forms and objects peculiar to the artist’s poetics-branch, leaf, stone, house, glass-new elements surface in recent paintings and sculptures that further increase the vocabulary of Paolucci’s refined poetics.”

In both the paintings on paper and the bronze sculptures, for example, the archetypal form of the house recurs, placed in dialogue with the biomorphism of branches protruding from the roof or windows. Not a metaphysical process, but the internalization of real situations, observed by the artist during his walks in nature.
An artistic practice in which perceptual sensitivity and imagination merge, including through the juxtaposition of natural elements and geometric forms, a figurative expression of the duality between man and nature.
Indeed, Paolucci evokes reality, but his compositions are always mental and poetic in nature.
“Through the use of different media such as paintings, papers and sculptures, the artist expresses his own vision of the world, his emotions and reflections,” Franciolli writes. “His creations are open to various meanings and interpretations, leaving room for the viewer’s creativity and imagination. This possibility of interpretation, which differs from person to person, makes Flavio Paolucci’s works particularly engaging, actually offering a unique and personal aesthetic experience to the viewer.”
“Flavio Paolucci is an artist towards whom we have the highest esteem and admiration, says Tecla Riva, founder of KROMYA Art Gallery and director of the Lugano office.

“Flavio Paolucci is an artist towards whom we have the highest esteem and admiration, says Tecla Riva, founder of KROMYA Art Gallery and director of the Lugano office. We have presented him several times in the Lugano and Verona venues and at art fairs, always garnering great interest and desire for further study.
With this exhibition, we celebrate an important birthday of an artist, but also of a friend, through a selection of recent and unpublished works, because creativity is an inexhaustible source of youth.”
The exhibition will be accompanied by a volume with a critical text by Marco Franciolli and an intervention by Tecla Riva, containing the works on display and all the works exhibited over the years by KROMYA Art Gallery in Lugano and Verona.
