The exhibition Dall’intonaco al cemento by Elio Marchegiani and Enzo Cacciola was held at the KROMYA Art Gallery in Verona from December 11th, 2021 to February 5th, 2022. This exhibition presented a selection of works by the two artists made in the mid-1970s, representing a simultaneous and unprecedented observation of the different works of the two artists.
The exhibition highlighted the radicality of the original linguistic tensions and some methodological developments related to the research of each of them, which underline the fertility of that common season preceding every subsequent declination of the numerous neo-pictorial propositions manifested in the 1980s. The exhibition promoted a new and in-depth reflection on the art of the two artists, early exponents of “analytical painting” and the sensitization of painting-material supports. On the occasion of the exhibition, a catalog was published in which all the exhibited works, iconographic materials, and a historical-critical essay by Bruno Corà were reproduced.
