From October 5th to November 20th, 2021, the KROMYA Art Gallery in Verona hosted the exhibition “Assoluto Naturale” by the two artists Flavio Paolucci and Giovanni Frangi.

The exhibition was inaugurated on October 1st and presented an immersive journey in which the bronze sculptures, typical of the language of the Ticino artist Flavio Paolucci, merged with the abstract paintings of the Milanese artist Giovanni Frangi, in a comparison that emphasized the relationship between man/nature and the impact of human activity on the environment.

Flavio Paolucci’s works represent over sixty years of career and reflection by an artist who has always been strongly linked to nature and its peculiarities. Compositions characterized by a subtle search for balance and visual simplicity become vehicles for primordial themes, such as the cyclical nature, the transience of existence and rebirth, in a game of balance between the parts and the whole. In his research, the attention to the plant world is concretized in the use of raw, lifeless materials – such as branches, stones, and leaves – which, fused with elements of bronze, glass, wood, or paper, return to play a vital and pulsating role, decontextualized from their origins, to be placed in an environment with strong symbolic value.

Nature thus takes on the contours of a totalizing element, declined on different surfaces and materials that tend, all, towards a common reflection: seriality as variation, automatism, and experimentation. The cyclical meaning of the natural theme becomes a central and foundational element also in the work of Giovanni Frangi. The artist investigates repetition, often in an obsessive manner, which reappears in the succession of the seasons, at the same time equal and changed. Starting from a personally taken photographic image, Frangi fuses the verisimilitude of the image with the implausibility of the technique: a circumscribed and infinite field of action, like the natural force from which it takes inspiration.

The “Assoluto Naturale” exhibition was an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between man and nature and its effects on the environment. The KROMYA Art Gallery gave life to a culturally significant event, offering visitors a unique view of contemporary art.
